A Pearl is a hard, generally spherical object produced within the soft tissue, which is specifically the mantle of a living shelled mollusk. Just like the shell of a mollusk, a pearl is made up of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form, which has been deposited in concentric layers. The finest quality Natural Pearls have been highly valued as gemstones and objects of beauty for many centuries, and because of this, the word Pearl has become a metaphor for something very rare, very fine, very admirable, and very valuable.

There are two types of Pearls available, one is the Natural Pearl and the other is the Cultured Pearl. The Natural Pearl is found in the Oyster, and it develops into the oyster only. When any microscopic particle enters into the oyster, the reaction inside the oyster starts and after a long time that foreign particle turns into Pearl. Such Natural Pearls are very rare. Where as Cultured Pearl is mad-made Pearl. The process of making Cultured Pearl is that a foreign particle is introduced into the oyster and as time passes the particle turns into a Pearl, this Pearl is called Cultured Pearl. The difference between the prices of both the Pearls is not very huge but the cost of the Natural Pearl is more than that of a Cultured Pearl.
